The foam is very easy to form and craft, however plan very carefully because mistakes are fixable but use caution, save your foam! The case is lockable (I use medium Master 131T Locks) and also has a location for a shoulder strap if necessary. Construction is military grade and is, as stated, waterproof. I chose the light grey color, favoring black, however in the summer the heat and sun may cook the contents with black. I am very pleased with this purchase and from a standpoint of longevity it should last the life of the camera and protect the contents. I recently acquired the big lens for the Nikon and some other stuff and so I had outgrown the Pelican 1200 that held the Nikon previously. I like these rugged cases better than the canvas jobies. Not so-much because I need a lot of protection, but rather because I like having all of my camera junk in one neatly organized place. I'm kind-of anal about these things. I've got a Pelican 1150, a 1200, and a 1500For the Nanuk, I like that they are cheaper than the Pelicans, especially for the colored cases. The latches for the Nanuk are way better than the Pelican cases too and I like the multi-layer foam in the Nanuk However, I now wish I had paid the extra for the Pelican (and forgone the green color) because the Pelican cases I've bought seem better constructed.
